Tennis prodigy Kei Nishikori of Japan is receptive to instruction from Ben McLachlan, his doubles partner.

The Japanese pair of Nishikori and McLachlan has shown promise at the Tokyo Olympics thus far, advancing all the way to the semi-final round.
Nishikori, the runner-up at the 2014 US Open, will be competing in both the singles and doubles events at the Olympics. His primary goal is to do well in the singles tournament. Nishikori and McLachlan beat British pair Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski 6-3, 6-4, on Monday.

According to Seiadoumogera/Twitter quotes, Nishikori said, “I also have something that doubles specialist doesn’t have, I think that (complementary connection) forms a wonderful combo.”
The strategy developed by Nishikori and McLachlan paid off as they won in straight sets. It’s easy for me to get work done because Nishikori-san never misses with his returns. McLachlan remarked, “We tried to get them to make mistakes because they were a good squad.”

In the fourth game, Nishikori and McLachlan got the first break of the match, which helped them gain a 3-1 lead.
Nishikori and McLachlan had four break points in the sixth game but were unable to capitalise on any of them. However, in the ninth game, they easily served out for the opening set.
Murray and Skupski had a break point in the fourth game of the second set, but Nishikori and McLachlan were able to save it and go on to win the set. When Nishikori and McLachlan got to match point in the tenth game, they took advantage of it and won in straight sets.

According to Tennis365, Murray remarked, “Everyone wants to play well, everyone dreams of coming in and winning a medal at the Olympic Games every four years.”
The game today was quite challenging for us. The opposition performed really effectively, especially early on to put us under pressure. It was just a really rough day.
