According to the Tokyo Olympics website, Ilardi turned professional in 2020 after attaining prominence in the skateboarding world.

As of 2010, Ilardi was Ranked #2 in the United States and #7 in the Globe.

Can’t wait to see where my skateboard and the rest of my adventure takes me,” he commented on one of his social media accounts. Saying, “I’ll see you in the year 2024.”

It’s not just Ilardi who competed for Sarasota County in these Olympics; there were a number of other athletes there.

On Tuesday night, Clark Dean, a rower from Sarasota, and his crew took part in the final men’s four rowing event. The results were delayed and would not be ready on time.

Dean went to Pine View School and then joined Sarasota Crew once he finished there.

Dean’s dad used to work for the Port Charlotte and Venice magazines Harbor Style.

Emma Weyant, also a local, won silver in the women’s 400-meter individual medley.

After finishing up at Riverview High School, Weyant decided to train with the Sarasota Sharks instead of attending the University of Virginia in order to compete in the U.S. Olympic trials.

Mary Tucker, a rifle shooter from Sarasota, competed in the 10-meter air rifle mixed team event and, together with her teammate, won silver. Tucker completed his high schooling at the Sarasota Military Academy.

Two other local Olympians are Jessica and Nelly Korda, sisters from nearby Bradenton. In the month of August, they will take part in the women’s individual golf competitions.
