Earlier this month, it was announced that Mélanie de Jesus dos Santos would be travelling to the United States to train at the World Champions Centre in Houston, Texas with Cecile and Laurent Landi, who coached American gymnast Simone Biles from 2017 until the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
At the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Mélanie came up empty, which was a major disappointment.

The 2019 European All-Around Champion placed twelfth individually, sixth with her team, and sixth on the uneven bars.
She admitted, “Yes, I was really dissatisfied with my Olympic Games.” At one point, I doubted whether it was worth it to continue.
However, her opinion changed after she travelled to the United States as part of the Gold Over America Tour cast and witnessed Biles’ incredible talent in person.
I did Gymnastics in a New Way;
I danced and interacted with the audience, she said. And I thought gymnastics was very cool; I can’t quit now.
Simone Biles, whom the 22-year-old gymnast met while training at the World Champions Centre, advised her to “do something” if she doesn’t want to waste her life on gymnastics.
In late April, de Jesus dos Santos will take a flight to the United States. Since she has recently relocated, she may not be able to defend her balance beam title at the upcoming European championships (August 11-21, 2017) in Munich, Germany.
The French gymnast has stated that she plans to return to France for training camps and tournaments as part of her Olympic preparation for Paris 2024.
